    Don’t buy this product. The glass surface of the product developed chips after using it for few months. After I contacted the customer support, they told that this was due to water coming in contact with the glass surface. Is the glass of the induction cooktop so sensitive to water that I cannot cook my food over it? Cooking food requires water and if some lid is placed over the cooking utensil to partially cover the utensil, some water drops will drip outside the utensil with the help of lid after the steam is formed inside the utensil

    We have been using only gas stoves till now. This is the first induction we bought for our house.

    I love cooking a lot. The only reason we bought this to see how we would like Induction cooker. I had read about induction on some other web pages and thought this would be a good way to try it out.

    Philips is a trusted brand, so we decided to try out a tried and tested brand because like they say ‘First impression is the Last impression’. We didn’t want to ruin our perception about induction cooking just because we bought a bad quality Induction Cooker.

    I have to confess this is really a good performer. Water and Milk came to boil faster than my gas stove ever did. Oil gets heated up way to quickly. I even burned my first batch of ‘Samosas’ because I didn’t realize that oil would heat up so quickly. It has also been marvelous for all kinds cooking, and that’s what made me a convert. I’ve had to learn how to cook with it, but that hasn’t been too difficult, since the results have been worth it.

    One limitation is that you are limited by the choice of utensils that can be used. The heat can get so hot that it ruined a pan with a non-stick coating and had to go for steel utensils with flat bottom instead. Don’t go for round bottoms because your induction won’t recognize it and will not turn on. It is quite safe and there is no danger of getting shocks since there is no direct contact between your cookware and wire. There is a glass shield in between.

    Although induction cookers won’t be permanently replacing gas stoves in our kitchen, but rather they will compliment them. It still has its downsides, like limited choice of cookware. And I am still unable to make recipes that just needs to be cooked very lightly without burning them or overcooking, but induction cooking does bring something to the party that ordinary electric cooking never had: Higher, quick heating. I’m sure that people who have more experience with electric cooking burn food on gas stoves too, but it is certainly better than the old-fashioned coils. But, as I said, the speed at which you can boil, or bring heat to other dishes is well worth the learning curve, where it wasn’t worth it before.

    Cleaning it is also a breeze, compared to gas stoves and cooktops. And I move it around the kitchen to wherever I need it, its easy to tuck away. I’m in love with it, It generates no heat, so there is no change in kitchen temperature. As far as the noise goes, yes, it is relatively noisy compared to a regular gas stove, which makes no noise at all. It has a cooling fan that runs whenever the unit is on, plus a couple minutes after the unit is turned off. But it is not that loud and you would hardly notice it when you are frying something.

    It comes with pre-built settings for some recipes and also controlled be used manually. One feature I really like about this cooker is the ability to keep food warm.

    On a final note I would really like to recommend this to anyone trying induction cooking for first time and also someone with experience in induction cooking. I think everyone needs at least one induction cookers in their kitchens. They’re handy for house parties when you need that one extra burner, for emergencies if gas burner breaks or you run out of gas.

    I’ve looked at just about every induction stove in India, and this was the best designed one I could find!

    The fans and internal components are well hidden and protected from spills, unlike with many other brands.

    The top panel is a single piece of glass, making it very easy to clean and offering good protection for the buttons.

    The controls are easy to read and understand, and I like how the watt and celsius bar is most prominent. Too many other induction stoves hide too much behind presets.

    This is basically my perfect induction stove and I’m very happily using it for a few months now.

    Another addition to the kitchen with induction cooktop from this brand, and coming from HD4928, this is definitely an upgrade with touch buttons, elegant design, and full glass top. All my HD4928’s malfunctioned due to water seepage inside from the joint between glass and control panel. This particular model, HD2938 with full glass top addresses the issue to some extent.

    1. This model slips a lot on the platform as there are no rubber shoes on the 4 legs. I don’t understand the reason behind omission of such an important thing. Brands PMs really need to think through.
    2. Didnt like the red LEDs above all buttons, it could have been made more aesthetic for such a premium device. Theres a big tranparent zone for every LED on the glass top and you can actually see those 10mm Red LEDs, which actually looks ugly. In this era of SMDs, they are still using 10mm ones.
    3. Price is on the higher side for not much of feature upgrade from HD4928. Could have been better designed.

    For these cons deducting one star. So a 4-star ★★★★ device.

    USAGE TIPS

    → Use utensils with induction base only. Normal steel utensils also work but are very less efficient. Aluminium ones won’t work here.
    → The glass plate gets hot during usage. Handle it with caution. The residual heat indicator remains on to show the status of heat.
    → Use child lock to prevent accidental touches, which may lead to improper cooking or even a disaster. These touches are not just limited to children.
    → Keep vents clean and have sufficient space around induction, for it to have proper forced air circulation. It’s an important process to keep the internals cool as its all electronics inside.

    IMPORTANT ADVICE

    → Never ever let liquid spill on the induction. It’s the major cause of failures in the cooktops. Even though they have addressed that issue in this model, by having full glass top, but still theres a small overlap of 5-7m on both ends of glass, which may lead to water or liquid seepage and damage the electronic circuit there.

    This goes by the name and will not disappoint wrt quality and performance of the product. Its one of the best inductions in the market, both looks and functionality wise.
