Let me start by saying I am a huge Insta360 fan. I purchased my first Insta360 x3 about three months ago, and traveled throughout England and Greece with it. I captured breathtaking images and opened my photography world to the exciting realm of spherical video. In a word “amazing”. So when the x4 dropped a couple weeks ago, I didn’t hesitate. All the hype about 8k resolution, longer battery life, removable lens protectors, faster data transfer, you name it…I was all in.

However, after the first 5 minutes of shooting, I realized there was a serious problem with the stitch line. Yes, we all know stitch lines exist on these cameras, but this was crazy bad (see photo). Even fully extended on my 10′ selfie stick behind me, look at the seam line on the back of my head. That wouldn’t be acceptable even at close range, but this is nearly 10 feet away. The line is wavy and distracting throughout the video. In fact, it renders all video unusable IMO.

I immediately contacted tech support and was told to check the lens guard settings, which I did multiple times, both resetting it with lenses off and then on, then to auto and back again. Nothing fixed it. I also read about this same issue online from other users. I made sure all firmware was updated, then contacted tech support again. They said to return it, which I did. Hoping this was just a fluke, I immediately ordered another, which arrived this afternoon with precisely the same problem. So I just returned it as well.

I have a follow-up note into tech support asking if they will acknowledge this as a known problem and have remedied the matter on models being shipped. I’ll update this when I hear back from them. I really want one of these cameras, but not if this is how they work. I’ll wait for confirmation that addresses this satisfactorily, and stick with my x3 in the meantime. The quality control division clearly needs a makeover.

La batería no funciona, no puede descargar firmware, no lee la pila, solo funciona si esta conectada a la computadora.

When I first started doing 360 Degree Pictures it was very Cumbersome. I would have to take 16 Pictures with a special device. I would mount this device on my tripod and then mount my camera on that device. Once everything is installed I would Aim my Camera at a Starting Point such as a Doorway. The only benefit to this method is that I can stay in that room with the Camera and Gear. After I take that 1st. Picture I would Rotate the Camera until it Clicks then take a Picture. At that point I would Rotate the Camera until it Clicks AGAIN and take ANOTHER Picture and ALWAYS Standing behind the Camera. I would REPEAT that procedure for a total of 16 TIMES. After I was done I would transfer the pictures from the SD Card to my hard drive and with their software then compile the pictures into one. If one of the pictures was bad for whatever I would repeat the procedure to replace that picture all the while making sure I get the right angle.

After I compiled the pictures into 1 Picture any one wishing to look at it would also need the same software to view it. The images were quite large and with a slower Internet back then it took a lot of patience.

Now with the use of Insta360 all you need to do is mount the 360 onto a tripod and press a button on the camera and it has a timer for to step out of the room and the timer with take the picture. Or you step out of the room and press a button on the remote to take a picture while looking through the Camera Lens. That is all you need to do. The end result is a very beautiful picture and you would have a picture very similar to a GLOBE. It will show everything EXCEPT the Tripod that you use.

Except not only being able to take a picture for a Realtors website you can set the Camera to Video Mode so you can mount the camera onto a Monopod and video your walks through a Forest, Zoo, Bicycle or Etc..

It’s all High Res Digital Video or Still Pictures. It’s perfect for a Family so everyone is in the Picture.
