Best kettle.Bought it for using in my hostel for late night maggie and it’s amazing.Provides power cuts to ensure it not being extra hot

I bought the 1.7L kettle with the glass lid. I used it to boil water only 2-4 times a day. The auto-switch stopped working after 2 months’ use. This is not an isolated case – check the reviews tab “stopped working”. Most of them are about the auto-switch not working. Extremely poor quality and practically unusable. I hang around for the water to boil and switch off the main. Otherwise, the kettle handle overheats to the point that you cannot touch it with a bare hand. Also, it is extremely dangerous. I liked the metal body but the steel is thin which I could live with. However, the design of the lid (comes off totally) does not work for me. If you tilt the kettle too much for pouring, the lid (heavy and glass) will topple off onto whatever is below it.
I wanted to know about the warranty terms. I called their Helpline number. An electric kettle is listed as something you need to carry to the service centre. Unless you are a senior citizen in which case, I do not know what happens. They will give you the address. You take it physically to the centre with the warranty card provided along with the purchase. A technician will then inspect it and then advise you further. What happens after that is unclear: something to do with the head office will be informed, etc. You definitely do not get a replacement and I’m unsure whether they will take it in for repairing, ask you to come back or go elsewhere, how long repairing (if it happens) will take, etc. My take is that the process is as cumbersome and tiring as possible to discourage people to avail the service. After all, buying a new one will be overall a less hassle. Of course, I will send mine to the bin and avoid all Prestige products.

Things I noticed, not just PROS and CONS:
1. It heats water quickly enough, but it creates a loud noise during heating. Tried looking at the reviews but found nothing about the noise. Personally, I found the noise unusual and unpleasant, so I returned it after 9 days. (Used a few times to see of the noise goes away after few uses, but it persisted)
2. Also it has no heat retention capacity, the walls of the kettle don’t seem to be double layered or have any insulation and are hot to touch while heating and lose heat quickly while it’s off.
3. The kettle immediately switches off once water starts boiling, but would be preferable if a rolling boil could be maintained for a few minutes, in case we need to purify water by boiling. (Maybe keeping the lid away might have helped to continue boiling, but I didn’t risk it)
4. The water capacity is great at 1.8 Litre. But the handle felt delicate, not sure it could have handled the full weight after multiple uses, especially considering the handle contains the OFF/ON switch as well, so it must have some internal wiring as well. So couldn’t risk breaking the handle.
5. The spout (water outlet) was simply triangular piece of steel welded on the body of the kettle and the finish didn’t look good. The welding points were visible and I feel it could’ve rusted at those points in near future.
6. The overall build was very light, but not in a good way. It didn’t appear robust, especially the walls of the kettle, they were simply too thin and even bendy. Would’ve easily caught dents. The lid however was delightfully solid. It was made of heavy glass and had a plastic handle. No complains about the lid.
7. The wide mouth was very convenient and surely would help in cleaning/washing.
Overall if the build quality and Noise level are acceptable to you, it works fine to heat water. The cost is not that high too. I got it at Rs. 799. But returned as I’ve mentioned above. Hope this review is useful to other Buyers and also possibly a feedback to the company to work on build quality.
